Effect of Seed Rate and Row Spacing on Yield and Yield Component of Rainfed Lowland Rice Variety (Ediget) at Assosa, Western Ethiopia

Rice is one the newly introduced crop in western Ethiopia (Assosa). However, yield far below its genetic potential. Lack of proper management practice on seed rates and row spacing are problems limiting. Field experiment was conducted to investigate effect rate traits lowland rice The treatment consisted seven levels (40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 140, 160 kg ha-1) four (15, 20, 25, 30cm). laid out as a Randomized Complete Block Design factorial arrangement replicated three times. From analysis variance, all parameters except filled grain were not significantly affected by spacing. maximum plant height (90.38cm) observed at 40 ha-1 lowest ha-1. highest panicle length (16.77cm), tiller per (3.37) (86.93) Filled highly significant 15cm (70.07). (3.93 t obtained 60 20cm economic indicated that most profitable with mean net benefit 86,110 Birrha-1. Therefore it can be concluded kg/ha preferable recommended for rain fed production areas study areas.
